The first font I experimented with was 'Bohemian Typewriter'. I felt that this would be good for the thriller because the grungy effect reflects the nasty element of the thrillers plot and mise en scene. Additionally, it was a font that was simple to read isolated from any background. However I chose not to use this font because on the background of the film it was too illegible and distracting and because it contrasted the detached tone of the film.
The second font I looked at was 'Major Label'. As with other fonts its grungy style really reflected the violence and dark elements of the opening and the psychopathy of the villain. The decayed and worn look also reflected the primeval mood of the rural setting. However although it is easily legible against a blank background, as with 'Bohemian typewriter', it was not clear enough against the backdrop of the film and did not reflect its style.
The last font I explored was 'Bebas Neue'. This was appropriate to the thriller because it was easily legible, classy and clean, which connotes the removal from the violence that the characters in the opening experience. Furthermore, the large block capitals of this font create an imposing and aggressive mood, a thriller convention. It was for these reasons that i chose to use this font in our final
